Goals

The second version of the Xelevate UX/UI design which captured all of the learnings we made since I designed the original platform UI for the H&M training pilot. There was a pattern among the different clients we were taking on, we had been building 2 different types of Courses: Open & Linear.

We wanted to avoid using overlays for improved rendering on Quest. So Misha built a custom build where I could upload different menu images & font sizes. I could then adjust the size and distance of the panel until we found an optimal distance/size for viewing. We assume that resolution is going to get better and better over time on VR hardware so at some point we hope overlays won't be necessary at all. There were many adjustments we had to make to make this game engine performant.

When creating a menu in Unity we want to use the least amount of assets possible and 9 slice them where possible. The curvature of almost all boxes and rectangles in this design are exactly the same so it can almost all be built out of a singular 9 sliced asset. We will eventually have a dark mode too. All illustrations are my own too.
